Bug Description

This bug appeared after I upgraded my 9.4 to 9.10. At the beginning there was a common error when wired connection seemed to be unmanaged. Wireless connection worked properly. I changed in /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf:

[ifupdown]
managed=false

to

[ifupdown]
managed=true

, but my connection stopped working at all. After few restarts my wired connection works, but Network Manager doesn't. It shows "Networking disabled" while hovering. If I right click on the icon, "Enable Networking" is checked and I am not able to uncheck it. It is quite strange. I have no possibility to choose which connection I would like to use. Moreover, I don't know which connection I am actually using....

I successfully changed configuration files and Network Manager is working now. Unfortunately I when I try to configure my dsl connection it still doesn't work. I have to use ppoeconf to configure it and than it works...

I think the issue with DSL is probably that you try to set it up with wireless. That's not yet supported. Is this the case? If not, please file a new bug for that specific problem (using 'ubuntu-bug network-manager', which should let us have all the necessary information to fix the issue). Thanks!

As for your comment that changing configuration files fixed the issue, I'll go ahead and mark this bug Invalid since we can't know the root cause for the issue.

Changed in network-manager-applet (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
