Hi David,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 472323

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

As of the current kernel 2.6.31-20-generic the boot is continuous on normal start up.

On restore from hibernate the HD activity is very little with the light flickering every 10s.

Boot time to complete log in is approximately 1m 20s from cold start.
Boot time to the locked screen log in is approximately 10m 35s when restoring from hibernate.

Added the following lines to /boot/grub/menu.lst to get hibernate to work at all

resume=/dev/sda6

where /dev/sda6 is the swap partition.

Hi,
I had random boot delay issues, not sure if they're the same, my unit is up and running in around 25 seconds. Used this fix, can't remember who posted it now, but it worked a treat for me:

/etc/grub.d/10_linux
add nohz=off to end of line:

EOF
  fi
  cat << EOF
 linux ${rel_dirname}/${basename} root=${linux_root_device_thisversion} ro ${args} nohz=off

then update grub:
sudo update-grub

This issue still remains in UNR 10.10, the fix in post #22 still works

This issue seems to have been resolved in 11.04, although the boot is around 20 seconds slower on my system.
