Bug Description

On my AMD64 machine, since a week or so, everytime I logout, the system locks up hard. Magic sysrq doesn't work. I need to powercycle the machine to get it back up. I tried with known-good kernels, the same error, so I guess it's not really in the kernel, but a bug in the X-driver? I can not find anything in the logs.

System info:

jos@quattro:~$ uname -a
Linux quattro 2.6.15-23-amd64-k8 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 23 13:51:32 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Video card is unknown to lspci, but it is a ATI radeon X550.

Forgot to mention, this is a fully up-to-date dapper system.

This is quite a blocking bug, since I can only login once.

I found out that it is in the fglrx driver. When I use the vesa or radeon driver, I don't get the crashes. With the ATI driver, always.

the updates of today for fglrx didn't solve this.
