Bug Description

Binary package hint: dpkg

I upgrade to ubuntu 9.10 and many packages cause problems to dpkg since the post install/remove scripts corrupted.

One of the bugs I open on it: #470272 I got an answare that it can't fixed from your side.

I solve this problem by manually download the deb package and install it and then I purge it and it solve the problem.

It will be much better if the dpkg itself will know to recover the scripts by download them again.

I solve those problems also by clean the cach and reinstall the packages

so if dpkg or apt-get notice in a problem in the scripts it should try to reinstall the package

Do you mean the scripts failures described in bug 512096?

dpkg doesn't do retrieval; the component in a position to do this is apt (although I suspect that it's difficult there, too!).

affects: dpkg (Ubuntu) → apt (Ubuntu)

We do not know the reasons why things fail, and simply reinstalling is never an option.
