Bug Description
Binary package hint: acpid
acpid uses /var/log/acpid as logfile. This is configurable with the -l option. However from the manual page it is not apparent whether acpid can use the standard syslog mechanism. (I would propose to use the special keyword "syslog".)
By default this should be used unless there is a very convincing argument against it.

Thank you for your bug report.
This is fixed in acpid 1.0.6:
- Use syslog() for logging (acpid.c, event.c, acpid.h) (Stefan Seyfried

This is in Debian already and will likely enter Ubuntu for Intrepid.
(I could not find anything about an "-l" option in acpid?!)
