Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

With crossfading on:
1) Rhythmbox skipping ogg files (exept last one in the playlist)
2) In my Ubuntu installation timeline-bar doesn't work for mp3 files when crossfading is on. Position is always at zero, so Rhythmbox can not scrobble files at Last.fm. With "-d" option I see messages in console (for last.fm stream): "[adjust_stream_base_time] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:920: unable to adjust base time as position query failed
[adjust_base_time_probe_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:876: attempting to adjust base time for stream http://..". I wasn't able to reproduce it on Ubuntu live CD.

I'm using Rhythmbox 0.12.5-0ubuntu4 from 9.10.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs relevant for this particular issue.

OK, for daily-live/20100301 there is problems with crossfading and gvfs:

Files were accesed via ssh and windows share, crossfading was on:
OGG files: seeking in timeline-bar doesn't work. With "-d" option I see messages in console:
[0x94c9028] [slider_moved_callback] rb-header.c:647: slider is not dragging

MP3 files: crossfading doesn't work.

For local files, crossfading works good.

Hi!

I got the same issue. With "-d" option it says:

[0x931dfb8] [adjust_stream_base_time] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:916: unable to adjust base time as position query failed
[0x931dfb8] [adjust_base_time_probe_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:872: attempting to adjust base time for stream http://play.last.fm/user/4a15057247bf924d66f41ad02e5fc2a0.mp3
(rhythmbox:1604): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GstAudioSinkRingBuffer' to `GstElement'

The first two messages are repeating again and again until I stop the playback.
For me it's only Lubuntu. In Xubuntu it's alright.

After I did a little research on https://bugzilla.gnome.org I solved the problem with installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly and removing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

I suggest that gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly should depend on Rhythmbox instead of being only a suggestion of the rhythmbox package.

lopatoid, did installing the gstreamer packages as suggested in the previous comment solve the problem for you too?

Yes, installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly solved the problem. WIth gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg the problem still persist. Anyway, Ubuntu going banshee-way now. And it seems like nobody is using crossfading )
