Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

in going through the graphical installer after booting up from the LiveCD, i got to the partition tab and was trying out different options. after selecting the "erase and use the entire disk" radio button and selecting my second disk (as opposed to the first, which displayed by default), i noticed that there was a horizontal scrollbar underneath the representation of that disk's partitions and available space. this is probably another bug, by the way, as the image reflects a percentage, and thus should always scale with the window. anyway, i horizontally resized the window to show the entire image, but it never really showed the full image, so i gave up and attempted to horizontally shrink the window. that's when i discovered that you're not allowed to, apparently. i've subsequently been successful triggering this bug merely by clicking 'forward' on each tab (which all can resize without problem) until I get to the partition page, and then trying to resize it. i've attached the documents requested from <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures> below.

When making 8 or 9 partitions on the drive this is a major irritation. Every dialog needs to be resizeable everywhere always. It needs to be the users choice, as screen resolution and size varies largely across platforms.
Scrolling is always bad UI.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 469233

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

The problem is User Interface related as in extremely irritating Design choices so apport-collect is not going to give you the right information. I've grabbed the latest Ubuntu 18.04LTS Beta and created some screenshots to better describe the issue.

What it comes down to the Install dialog box is locked to one size. This ensures that you can't view all the partitions at the same time.
