Bug Description
Binary package hint: ibus
The problem:
Te combination of charakters "sj" must not return symbol "щ". There is not official rule foor this. This behaviour affected to other rules of symbol replacement.
Affection: many russian words have ending "-ся", because of current bug it's not possible to write "-ся".
Example of affection: We want to have sequence "опускается", we write down "opuskaetsja". (letter "s" must give us "с", combination "ja" must produce letter "я")
But combination "sj" will corrupt russian words, and at the output we have got "опускаетща", which is not exactly what we expected to see.
Shortly: just try to write down russian word "опускается", it's not possible with current ibus table.
Additional information: sorry i dont know exactly but this behaviour was ok in betta of karmic (or alpha 6, i don't remember exactly)
Solution:
According to russian translit standart desibed in http://
1) Combination of "sj" must not give "щ", the ouput must be "сй", but in case of using "sja" the utput must be "-ся" (letter "s" must give us "с", combination "ja" must produce letter "я")
2) As there is no combination that provide russian symbol "щ", we should map this to some combination.
According to table from wiki: "щ" may be produced by one of the following combination: "sh, sch, shch, šč,
shh, w". From my point of view the combinations "shh, w" must be prefered because:
a) "sh" already reserved and give us symbol "ш"
b) combination "sch" may lead to wrong behaviour, some russian words requier "sch" -- > "сч". Example: считывать
c) combination "shch" can be used but it's long :)
d) combination "šč". I don't know such english letters :D
e) Combination "shh" CAN BE USED, without damaging russian words.
f) Combination "w" is highly prefered as it's only one symbol!!! and phonetic equivalent is already covered by "V"
Currently:
"W" or "V" --> "В"
Good point ot have:
"V" -- "B"
"W" -- "Щ".
The most russian people who are on the broad are using site http://
You may proove my suggestion by practice in this site. My opinion that is most correct implementetion of russian translit. And i think all people fromm russia/ukraine may support me in this suggestion. probably that is a whishlist. My first bug, don't beat me strong :D
