My laptop just freezes all the time with Ubuntu 9.10.The crash is almost random but most of the times, few minutes after the boot.
Sometimes just freezes at boot.A black screen with only a blinking cursor(line).Must press the power button.
Most of the times boot fast and run fast for few minutes(5-10) and then the screen become darker (not black but just like changing the brightness to very dark) and in the same time the computer freezes for few seconds and after that will return to normal(but now the computer is slower). After 2-3 cycles like these my computer freeze and I only can move the mouse(but can't click).I must press the power to restart or turn off.
I see the bug report notification most of the times when I use the live CD.But only once I was able to send this report. The computer freezes when is trying to collect information for this bug.(Network manager, internet, wireless all out of order too)
Hope makes sense.Sorry for me english :)

Hi serpfra1,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 469016

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
