In the french version of Dapper we can see all size translations with these unities: Kio, Mio Gio
But a Kio (kibibyte in english) is different from a Ko (kilobyte in english)
More information on : http://
As you can see on these pictures for the same folder, the unity used is not the same:
In FRENCH
http://
In ENGLISH
http://
But the size announced is the same 480,5 M??
I think that the french translation is wrong because I have these results with the "du" command:
du -xhs .picasa
482M .picasa
du -xhs --si .picasa
505M .picasa
Hi,
With --si option, du reports the file size in kilobyte (1000x1000 octets), so du is reporting 505 megabyte (mégaoctet in french).
Without -si option, du reports the file size in kibibyte (1024x1024 octets), so du is reporting 482 mebibyte (mébioctet in french).
So the GNOME french translation is right : the file size is 480,5 Mio (mébioctet in french). The wrong version is the english one which should be 480,5 MiB (mebibyte).
Thanks for your bug report.
Bob Mauchin.
