Bug Description

Binary package hint: msttcorefonts

Sorry, not sure if this is a needless repetition of an existing bug report.

Tried to perform "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras"

and hit a problem. The GNOME taskbar icon alerted me to the error and I got here by electing to report this bug as invited by the alerting tool.

For what it's worth, I got to this point after experiencing problems with getting my wireless to work properly. I have a base ubuntu 64-bit installation on an Acer TravelMate 7520. This has been patched with the proprietary Broadcom 02.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4321-, andBCM4322-based hardware.

I further upgraded my ubuntu build by layering KDE on top, giving me effectively a dual-desktop machine. I am using GDM as my display manager.

I can get fairly reliable wireless networking from GNOME, but am unable to get consistently reliable connections under KDE. Really weird, as I can boot into KDE, get nothing, then log off and log into GNOME and get a working connection... Will keep working on this and report what I find.

I have things that i need help with. first, i placed my cursor over the red blast looking icon on the title bar; it said that a crash had been detected, so i clicked it and typed in my password as it instructed me to do. however, information came back stating sorry can't this perform function. Nevertheless, this also happens when i try to down load wine hq in linux. Therefore, i need help downloading wine hq because i need the compatibility layer so that i can access a windows based program. From google search, i have what i think are the steps to downloading wine hq, there are four chapters to read. I skimmed through it, but i am not sure whether or not that something that i am suppose to be able to do alone. Thus, I am stuck on this step the instructions says that i need to retrieve the entire source code and insert it into the terminal window, but i am not sure how to retrieve the entire source code and where the terminal window is located or if i have found the terminal window which folder do i need to open? Can you help me or direct me to someone who can help me with both issues?
