Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

The Bulgarian spell-checking does not work. It marks every word as misspelled.
I tried writing in English (GB) and in French and the words were corrected properly.

Seems to be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/580814

The common problem is the Bulgarian myspell dictionaries, which are cp1251 encoded. After you convert them to UTF-8 as explained in the bug above, then you have again spell checking for evolution and empathy.

Attaching the converted dictionary files (based on version 3.0-9build1), which need to be extracted in /usr/share/myspell/dicts to fix the problem.

Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 and Evolution 3.28-5 and I believe I'm hitting the same problem (10 years later!).

The spell checker marks every word as misspelled when Bulgarian is used, while with English it seems to work pretty fine.

Can this bug be fixed, please?

Thanks,
Vlad
