Bug Description

My laptop is an HP NX9420 one. When I try to load the official HP clips in http://h20464.www2.hp.com/resultsCSR.htm?prodSeriesId=1839153&MEID=3EB1765E-CCB6-45C1-829A-17C44A10653E
For example, when I try to play "Expansion memory board" clip, the error is:

No packages with the requested plugins found
The requested plugins are:

Windows Media Speech decoder

However, if I try to "Open it with "Movie Player"" and select "Cancel" so PackageKit does not try to search for the required codec, the clip start playing but WITHOUT SOUND in the external totem player.

I've just tried to use MediaPlayerConnectivity plug-in (from the Mozilla website) and when using VLC as an external player for Windows formats, the error in VLC is:

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "wmas".

Again there is no sound.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GStreamer is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.
