Bug Description

I create debs on my machine using checkinstall and distribute them to two other computers on the network via samba. Right now I have to copy them to the desktop, then double click on them to install. I should just be able to double click on the deb in the share. This would be done via gnomevfs, unless this is aimed as a gtk+ only app.

If this will be added it needs to be done in a way that gnomevfs support is dynamically checked and used if available. There shouldn't be a direct dependency for this because projects like xubuntu don't use gnome libs and we want to be useful for them too. I think it shouldn't be hard to implement a class File() abstration that has a try: import gnomvfs except ImportError. But this is post-dapper stuff.

Now that gnomevfs is deprecated and replaced with gio, this is an easy fix. GTK depends on gio because it is in glib. So there is no reason (barring manpower and lack of support in the pygtk bindings) to not implement this.
