Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.5
Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Update ->
Automatically check for updates to: Installed Add-ons - not working
and the following options are missing:
'When updates to Firefox are found:"
"Ask me what I want to do"
"Automatically download and install the update"
"Warn me if this will disable any of my add-ons"
Expected Behaviour:
When "Automatically check for updates to: Installed Add-ons" is selected and
updates are found, depending on what options are meant to be
selected in "When updates to Firefox are found:" Firefox should on next start,
provide a notification or perform an install, and then request a restart
Current Behaviour:
No automatic checks, no notifications or prompts for installation,
no update options available.
No indication that the feature is working at all.
System:
Firefox/Shiretoko 3.5.4+nobinonly
Linux kubuntu 2.6.28-16-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty
x86 architecture
Plugins: Default Plugin, Demo print plugin, Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
Add-ons: NoScript 1.9.9.11
Notes:
Same behaviour & missing options in
Firefox/Shiretoko 3.5.3+nobinonly
Same behaviour in Firefox 3.0.14+
Firefox 3.0.15+
except that the 'When updates to Firefox are found:" text & options
are visible but unalterable ("greyed out")
Selecting "Tools -> Add-ons -> Find updates" functions correctly and updates
can be installed.
