Bug Description

Computer seems to resume ok, but won't resume correctly. It makes noise, and the system power light turns on, but the screen remains black (not even a lit black). I can send any more information if anyone wants it.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly.

Hi lpearce,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 465839

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeremy-
This bug is still an issue with a fully updated 9.10; I'll try to test with the development release this weekend. I'm too much of a newbie to muck around with the kernel, though. Sorry!

Hi Jeremy-
So, I've tested it and it still didn't work. It didn't create any error logs that I could find (perhaps because I'm running it off a LiveCD), but I ran the apport command to post the above things. Let me know if there's anything else I can do (although I think compiling my own kernel is beyond my abilities).
