Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

Toshiba Satellite stalls at Boot stalls at ieee1394: Host Addeed: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[00023f77ae40497b] on Karmic Release, Ubuntu 9.10, both when booted from hard drive installed version and when booted from a removable disk.

After letting the system sit there for approximately 2-3 minutes, it loads to a login screen after saying that the first screen resolution had failed, and then it allows me to log in. After logging in nothing with work, and attempting to startx results in a non-responsive screen with the hard drive still apparently working.

Wrong package - linux-2.6.15 should be used only for Dapper (6.06) bugs.

affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 465616

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Hello,

I am also seeing this same exact issue, but *only* after upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10... Also, I am not seeing any issues with my Windows 7 partition (dual boot) very strange...

I tried running th apport-collect 465616 command, but apparently do not have the permissions to send it your way. Can you grant me that access or should I go ahead and open a new ticket?

Here at least is a section of a dmesg printout, you can see it took 20 secs from "Host added" to the swap partition.

[ 2.316464] ieee1394: Host added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[474fc0000d6a6161]
[ 20.717370] Adding 204792k swap on /dev/sda3. Priority:-1 extents:1 across:204792k
[ 21.175008] udev: starting version 151

Please let me know what else I can send your way. It's really hard to brag about the new improved boot time in 10.04, when my laptop is 20-30secs slower to boot after 9.10 lol.
