thunar takes over gnome "places"+"bookmarks" menu in gnome panel

Bug Description

I have ubuntu - kubuntu and xubuntu in the pc.
during one of yesturdays upgrades xubuntu-desktop was kept aside and not installed, i installed it mannually and it uninstalled ubuntu-desktop. i reinstalled unbuntu-desktop and it uninstalled xubuntu-desktop.

the buggy part hapens when thunar takes over gnome "places"+"bookmarks" menu in gnome panel. so when i go to my bookmarks thunar shows up instead of nautilus.

from what I know apps do not take over some mimetypes (in this case some .desktop files) by themselves, they cannot do that. Probably the default one is chosen on a last come basis. There may be a setting UI in gnome to associate nautilus back I am not sure...

I confirm some of what huizache said.
In my case, nothing was uninstalled when I installed xubuntu-desktop, but indeed, thunar is opening instead of nautilus when I open one of my bookmarks.
I have noticed that only for the bookmarks, for instance, it doesn't happen when you open the hhd on the desktop.
