Bug Description

(Subject says it all)

Immediately since and after upgrade Jaunty->Karmic, my partition sda11 shows as 0&, while on Jaunty it would be the usual indication in GB.

the log has " label: 0&", it's a devicekit-disk bug or not a bug

Right, indeed the label of this partition is "0&". I advice to open System -> Administration -> Manage Drives and Media, and changing the label there.

So this is achange of behaviour, then, compared to 9.04.
(Maybe Ubuntu should then come with a list of expected changes at an
update? But that's another topic.)
Can you please confirm this, also w.r.t. the screenshot that I was asked
to add earlier:
When I plug in ext3, it should show the storage size (e.g. "40 GB"), and
when I plug in vfat, it should show its label (e.g. "Movies"); correct?
Though that would be inconsistent.

Also, according to the attached screenshot, you can make out that the
partition is noted as ext3 in the overview to the left. On the right it
says FAT32.

So here is the screenshot after I changed the label to TransFAT.
Now the labels shows, yada-yada-yada.
But: Under Jaunty it showed with its size, not with the label.
I have yet to hear if this is an intended change to Jaunty.

Also, I have attached a screenshot of what I get now: the label is shown, instead of the size.
Question, again, along with the subject of my original post:
"Has the intended behaviour of 'mount' in Nautilus changed from Jaunty to Karmic?"

Thanks. This is not an intended change from Jaunty.

I think what's more likely is that vol_id vs. blkid have different opinions about what the label on that drive is. Any chance you could copy&paste the output of

  sudo blkid

under 9.10 (karmic), and then boot a jaunty live system again and copy&paste the output of

  sudo vol_id

here?
