Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

The new software center isn't removing software when I click the "remove button". It just seems to do nothing. I needed to remove Banshee to see if reinstalling would fix a problem. Tried uninstalling a few other unrelated programs just to see if it would let me and it doesn't. I'm not very tech savvy so other means of removing software on Ubuntu are a little over my head.

I might be wrong about this (I don't have 9.10 in front of me) but the "Remove" button marks a package to remove. This way, you can select multiple programs, and then click on Apply or something like that to start the removal process.

I can not remove currently installed software and I can not install software with the Software Center. I can use the Synaptic Package Manager though. I even tried reinstalling the Software Center. Also it does not load the images for the software either.

I cannot reproduce this problem. I have been able to install and remove software just fine. It is interesting that it does not load images for you. What are your software sources? Maybe it is a malfunctioning mirror?

I have tried my Canada mirror, the main mirror, I had it check for the best mirror and tried it too. None work. It always takes a few minutes for the program to tell me that it can't get the images and anytime I press install or remove they don't do a single thing. It says "No Screenshot available" regardless which programs I pick. It does tell me 2181 items are available.

Update: I can now see images in the Software Center but I can not install or remove anything.

Xenomorph05, I learned an additional detail that might help you. Start up the synaptic package manager, and then click on "Refresh". The refresh step might be thing that gets things working again.
