Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayer

Hello!
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (amd64), and I want to use Mplayer with enca, but it doesn't work. In Jaunty all was working properly.

I tested mplayer and mplayer-nogui

mplayer-nogui:
  Installed: 2:1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu10
  Candidate: 2:1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu10
  Version table:
 *** 2:1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu10 0
        500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/multiverse Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I tested with "subcp =enca:ru:cp1251" option(in ~/.mplayer/config)

Subtitles has utf-8 encoding, but I see "?" symbols instead of normal text. I quoted strings from Mplayer log file:

SUB: Detected subtitle file format: ssa
SUB: error opening iconv descriptor.
SUB: Read 478 subtitles.
[ass] error opening iconv descriptor.
[ass] error recoding file.
SUB: Added subtitle file (1): ./[Zero-Raws] Umineko no Naku Koro ni - 12 RAW (1280x720 x264).ass
[ass] auto-open
[ass] Init
[ass] Updating font cache.

I think that mplayer was compiled without enca (--enable-enca). Please, recompile mplayer with this option.

Same here. Please recompile with "--enable-enca" to facilitate subtitle display.
