Also effects 'clean' install(where clean means that I didn't upgrade, not directly out-of-the-box clean)

Init.d script /etc/init.d/nfdump return value depends on VERBOSE enviroment variable:

$ /etc/init.d/nfdump start ; echo "retval: $?"
retval: 1

$ INIT_VERBOSE=yes /etc/init.d/nfdump start ; echo "retval: $?"
 * Starting netflow capture daemon nfcapd [ OK ]
retval: 0

I've attached patch fixes this bug.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. This is the link to the patch that Debian used to fix this issue. I will try to get an SRU done for this. Please report any other issues you may find.

Micah, are you still working on an SRU? The bug is fixed in Lucid, Maverick and Natty, so it would only apply to Karmic.
