Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Normally, when one would click on the topmost file on the desktop and then on another file while holding Shift, every file in between is selected. This is however only the case when the files are sorted alfabetically. So, when the files are in random order, they are selected according to their name and not their place. Also see the screenshot.

I've managed to reproduce this by coping files from the examples folder into the desktop and rearranging them randomly. I'm attaching an animated gift showing the bug.

Animated example of wrong behavior. Notice that to select all files I must first select the first file on alphabetical order (respecting the "folders before files" rule) and then shift-select the last one.

Sorry for triple-posting. The file I've attached before had no extension and firefox thought it was a binary file. I've renamed the file and am updating it again.

Apparently it was already reported upstream.

This seems not to be happening in gnome-shell, can anyone confirm? If it is fixed there, maybe the code could be reused?
