Bug Description

I use pvgrub at linode which allows you to boot your own kernel. While in jaunty I could use the -server kernel. When trying to use that kernel in karmic you get the following error

ERROR Invalid kernel: elf_xen_note_check: ERROR: Will only load images built for the generic loader or Linux images

However the linux-ec2 kernel boots just fine.

So maybe we should rename it to something like linux-xenU or linux-pvops or linux-xenpvops

to make it more generic and useful

This seems like a regression in Karmic because the -server kernel in Jaunty had the necessary _XEN kernel configuration for pvops booting. I was using the linux-server-image package and the upgrade to Karmic broke all of my 32-bit virtual machines.

The 64-bit kernels in Karmic can still run in a Xen domU, however, so migrating from i386 to AMD64 could be an option for you.

I don't think its likely to rename linux-ec2, we're more hoping it will go away, and be replaced by the normal linux-server using pv_ops.
