Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Testing the karmic desktop i386 isos today, when I shutdown the livecd, half the time I get the usplash "Remove CD, press enter" dialog. The other half of the time, I get a black screen. If I hit return at the black screen, the laptop shuts down.

This may be hardware dependant. This is installing to a Thinkpad T30.

Do you see the ubuntu logo when shutting down, and it just turns black while usplash is running? or does X immediately change to a black screen when you shut down?

Actually, I misspoke.

I never see usplash.
Half the time I get a text mode screen with the "remove cd, hit enter" message.
The other half of the time, the screen just turns black when switching to the text mode and I don't see anything.

It works fine once installed, it's just a livecd problem.
