Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Well, there are similar problems around, i.e. I hear no music although pressing the test button in sound system configuration gives me the sounds.

So the bug, IMHO, is maybe not that there is a missconfiguration.
The bug is that I have no opportunity to see why.
Does it try to connect to the pulse audio server or are there missing rights to access /dev/dsp - nothing.

The error message which appears sometimes and saying something like "Too many errors in playlist ..." (well, I get it in german) is not really helpful, to tell the truth, it is not helpful at all.

So IMHO this is a serious bug of the usability.

BTW, I use Ubuntu 9.10

I had silent Amarok (Fresh install of Karmic 9.10 + Amarok V2.2.0). On pressing play the progress bar moved from left to right in 1 second and no sound came out. Installed package 'libxine-ffmpeg' and it now works.

I can confirm the bug and the fix. Works perfect after installing the 'libxime1-ffmpeg' package via apt/synaptic. This should be listed as a dependency in the amarok package.

Changed in amarok (Ubuntu):
