Bug Description

hi,
In some situations the filter dialog editor is not large enough to get to all of the fields which should be editable. When the bottom of the editor's window is dragged down to expand the active area, the new area is added above the "add effect" button but the space is needed in the "effect parameters" area.

To reproduce this problem create a new document, create a square with some colour fill. Apply Filters -> Color -> Invert Hue. Open filter editor to edit the filter. Change the effect parameter type from "Hue Rotate" to "Matrix". Only very little of the top of what should be the matrix is shown. The dialog height needs to be updated. Attached are before and after screen prints.

This bug may be related to others filter editor dialog bugs such as:

Reproduced with Inkscape 0.46+devel r22544 on OS X 10.5.8

Setting importance to 'Medium': there is no apparent workaround to resize the filter editor dialog. Closing and re-opening the dialog with the filtered object still selected doesn't update the needed dialog height for the 'Matrix' entry field.

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Confirmed

correction - here's a workaround: open a second window (new document), then switch back to the first one which has the filter editor still open -> triggers the recalculation of the dialog height. Now all rows of the matrix are displayed correctly.

This bug is still happening in the 0.47 release "Inkscape 0.47 r22583, built Nov 21 2009"

I've a similar bug with Windows7, Inkscape 0.48.

The effect : connections window is too small to see all the effects used in a filter

To reproduce: Start on a blank page. Make a simple shape. Apply a filter (e.g., 3D marble material). Look at the filter editor.

@Michael - at the bottom of the dialog there's a small handle or grip to vertically resize the docked dialog. You can easily increase the size of the dialog so that you see more or all of the used filter primitives of the current filter in the upper part of the dialog.

What you are seeing is a small default vertical size of docked dialogs (similar to bug #597573) - this report here is about the height of the lower part of the dialog (Effect Parameters) which can't be easily resized using a handle.
