Bug Description

After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 (two days ago, before the official start) my computer does not play any sound through the speakers, except for the system. I AC'97 Souns Silicon Integrated System Controller

It seems that after upgrading to Karmic you are still
booting a non-Karmic kernel. There may have been an
issue updating grub during the upgrade.

Please try:
  sudo mv /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst.backup
  sudo update-grub
  sudo reboot

After rebooting run:
  uname -a

Verify that the kernel you are now booting is of the
2.6.31 variety.

Please attach the contents of the /boot/grub/menu.lst.backup file you made.
