Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-media
edit: the description was not right
Hello,
i wondered why i m not able to get any sound from my microphone. I need to run the "alsamixer" console program the push up the level of the "Analog MIx" to get any line in or microphone input. Outherwise I wouldnt record any sound from my line in/mic. First I thought it is a problem with the new volume control, that these features are not implemented, but after some reading time i knew it should work. Users from the gnome channel from freenode told me to make a bugreport about the ALSA profile of my card. The "Analog Mix" in capture should be set to maximum level by default.
There is also a problem with the sound output if i try to use 5.1 sound. If I change "front/rear" or the "balance" to one end of the control, I get a hard whistling noise. I think that shouldnt happen. The sound is completly stuttering if I set 4.1 output and with 5.1 a volume level under 25% dosnt work. I get no sound than.
I am using now the Ubuntu Karmic Koala RC with all updates.
