Bug Description

Binary package hint: kompozer

Using ubuntu 9.04, amd64.

Installed kompozer, 1:0.7.10-0ubuntu6.

Kompozer starts fine. Browsing top-level menus (File, Edit, View, Insert, ...) works fine. When moving the mouse to the 'second level' menu (eg, go to View, wait for the menu to appear, then move the mouse over 'Show/Hide' menu), kompozer segfaults.

The same is reproduced on another machine (i386 architecture).

I can reproduce this on my i386 machine running Jaunty and the same version of Kompozer.

I too have reproduced the same problem at my laptop whith AMD32 (if it helps lshw gives: Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+).

Since I thought that perhaps a later version might have a bugfix I uninstalled and went to KompoZers site http://kompozer.net/download.php for the latest download. There I saw this notice:

"Warning: this version does NOT work with recent GNU/Linux distros.
KompoZer 0.7 is not compatible with GTK ≥ 2.14 — expect crashes. If you’re using a Linux distro that ships KompoZer 0.7.10 with GTK ≥ 2.14, please inform the package maintainers about this."

Well, I tried the newest version there, and this problem dissapeared. I don't know if there are others, haven't had the time to try yet.

You have tried it in karmic, right?
I just tried in karmic, 32bit, and it seems to be working fine. So, I guess it is fixed in 9.10 :)

And just checked in Ubuntu 10.04 64bit, it is also working fine, I can't reproduce the bug.
