Bug Description

After resuming from suspend-to-disk, kdebluetoothd does not work anymore on my kubuntu dapper. The tray icon does not appear anymore, there is simply a blank space where the icon should be. It is not possible to access the daemon by clicking on its tray icon or by using systemsettings (systemsettings simply freezes when i try to open the bluetooth module. it does not show anything and does not react anymore). It does not accept any bluetooth connections anymore (tested by trying to connect to kbemusedsrv).

It is possible to to stop the daemon manually on the console (using kill <pid>), but it still does not after restarting it. After killing kbluetoothd fro the command line, systemsettings reacts again and pops up an error dialog with the message "DCOP error when calling services()"

My laptop is a HP nx8220.

I'm having the same problem (Edgy and Feisty): the kbluetooth icon disappears from the system tray after resume from suspend. One workaround was to add bluetooth to STOP_SERVICES in /etc/default/acpt-support. When I do that, I always have an error message on resume, but the icon is there.
Another way to have it reappear is to use the enable/disable wireless function key on the notebook. Disabling wireless makes the icon immediately reappear, and it stays here after re-enabling.
Note that I can still connect to the "remote control" bluetooth service while the icon is missing (by remote control I mean using a Sony-Ericsson phone to control the mouse and some keys). I don't know about other bluetooth services.
I don't know if it is related to Bug #44706.

PS: the error message I get when I add bluetooth to STOP_SERVICES is "cannot connect to SDP server". It shows up in a small dialog at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes there are two or three instances of this dialog.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty with all recent updates

The "Cannot connect to SDP server" message still appears with Gutsy.
Note that this is a fresh install, so bluetooth does not appear in the STOP_SERVICES of /etc/default/acpi-support

I can confirm it.
I have Kubuntu Feisty with all updates (2007-08-16)
After resuming from hibernate, I cannot use my usb bluetooth, because I get 1 message about registering sdp record and 3 messages about failing connection to sdp server. It happens sometimes. Sometimes bluetooth work after hibernate.
Helps only rebooting.

Sorry for my English ;)

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 alpha?

Another thing.

I have the following information in my .xsession-errors:
     kbluetooth4(7111) Solid::Control::ManagerBasePrivate::loadBackend: Backend loaded: "BlueZ"
     kbluetooth4(7111) KBlueTray::offlineMode: offline Mode

That's all I have
