IMX51 VGA/HDMI output vertical refresh rate 62Hz is incompatible with HDTV

armel iMX51 both VGA and HDMI output vertical refresh rate is 62Hz. but it should be 60Hz otherwise most of HDTV will not be able to display.

i use lange51 board, which is similar to babbage board.

the fbset -s output is not consistent with the LCD monitor and HDTV received.
LCD monitor and HDTV will show 62Hz refresh rate in it's information. but fbset -s show 58Hz.
i spend several weeks but still don't know why. anybody can fix it?

I encounterd this problem, too.
But I tried the freescale bsp (not ubuntu), the situation is similar.
The frequency is always incorrect even if the result in "fbset -s" is correct value.

I guess this should be freescale hardware issue.
But the FAE did not answer me until now :(

the lange board has not much in common with the babbage board apart from the core CPU, note that there are a lot of additional patches on top of the freescale code added by pegatron for kernel as well as bootloader if you use our imx51 babbage board kernel (which you filed this bug against) it is not expected that pegatron lange boards work with it, the images we provide are babbage only.

i will close this bug, feel free to re-open if someone with a babbage 2.5 or 3.0 board can confirm the same behavior.

I tested with the freescale i.MX51 Evaluation Kit (http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/fact_sheet/IMX51EVKFS.pdf?fpsp=1) and freescale BSP L2.6.31_09.12.00_SDK_source, the output timing frequency is really incorrect.

And I also tested the ubuntu demo image "fsl_ubuntu_0912.gz" downloaded from freescale website with i.MX51 Evaluation Kit, the output timing is still incorrect.

ah, sorry, i mixed you up with the original reporter who apprently uses a lange51. though if you see it with the freescale code as well it looks rather like an upstream issue to me.
