Bug Description
Binary package hint: usb-creator
This is when creating a new USB start disk under Karmic, using ubuntu-
I selected 250MB space for settings and docs. The process bar goes up to 71%. There it stops for some seconds and then usb-creator crashes with a segmentation fault:
usb-creator-
The disk at that point is of course only partially done and unusable.
I'm not entirely sure, but it seems that this might be caused by the md5 check failing, as many files are somehow missing (compared to the md5sum.txt). The content on the disk:
ldlinux.sys
casper
casper/
casper/
casper/
dists
install
isolinux
pics
pool
preseed
.disk
autorun.inf
md5sum.txt
README.diskdefines
wubi.exe
I am getting a lot of different errors both on ubuntu and windows Vista when trying to use usb-creator to create bootable netbook ubuntu USB stick.
Sometimes it crashes with simple "segmentation fault" on console. Sometimes I get error box telling me that my device is not found (even though it is).
On Windows usb-creator doesn't allow me to add the ubuntu image to the image list. When I click the "other" button and select the image nothing happens. When I run the creator from mounted image the ubuntu iso is in the list but once I click "make bootable" I get "access denied" error box. This happens even when I run it as an admin.
It seems that the usb-creator is really broken.
