Hi LAZA,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 459723

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I upgraded from 9.10, latest patch status, to 10.04 via update-manager. It's a virtual machine, powered by VMware Workstations 7.1 hosted on a Dell Inspiron 6400 running Ubuntu 10.04.

- Upgrade procedure runs flawless, except that the upgrade procedure didn't recognize that there is already Grub2 installed. After
I selected "Keep current configuration...", I got a message that it could be that the actual grub configuration won't be able to
handle the installation. However the system was booting fine - no errors etc.
- I tried to recompile the VMware Tools, but there I got the first time the message regarding to the mtrr.
- I re-installed the VMware Tools (that's without compiling) and it seems that the VMware Tools since then working fine.
- But in /var/log/dmesg I found this:

- Configured RAM is 1024MB - The system is showing 1002MB.
- I can't noticed any problems while the system is in use.
- I didn't tried to re-compile the VMware tools yet, but I will do so and I will check out the upstream kernel, but 1st I have to
  read the web page. ;-)

As soon as I have news, I will come back and document it.
