Totem DVB playback not working in Karmic

After an upgrade from Jaunty to Karmic RC selecting DVB in totem brings up the channel list but does not playback any channel. The status bar says "Playing" but here is no video or audio and the counter in the status bar does not advance. Totem stays responsive and does not crash though. This is a regression from Jaunty where the same setup used to work. DVB playback works in Me TV.
