Binary package hint: tvtime

After upgrading from jaunty to karmic, tvtime is no longer able to change channels. The number will change in the OSD, but the channel stays the same.

The problem doesn't occur with kernel 2.6.28. Only when using 2.6.31.

Same here. It happened after Jaunty -> Karmic upgrade.
This also happens on mythtv. So I guess is related to the kernel, instead of tvtime

My video card is a saa7134 based one.

Burt, what is your video card?

Regards, Matt

It seems the chip is saa7130, but it is handled by the saa7134 driver.

/etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf:

Using kernel 2.6.28 also fixed this for me.

I guess the 2.6.31 kernel broke something in the saa7134 module.

Please change the title to something more appropriate.

I can also confirm that this is kernel issue since everything works in 2.6.28-17-generic

I don't see how libv4l can be involved in this error pattern. It does not change the frequency handling at all.

Hi Burt,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 458832

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Still not working in 10.04.
Built latest v4l-dvb from linuxtv.org, and it hasn't been fixed there yet, so I doubt a fix could be in ubuntu.
I've posted a bug at: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15254
