Bug Description

Is it supposed to be?

apt-file thinks it can find the package:

$ apt-file search libdatetime.so
xfce4-datetime-plugin: usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/libdatetime.so

but apt-cache tells me it can't:

$ apt-cache policy xfce4-datetime-plugin
W: Unable to locate package xfce4-datetime-plugin

the package has been removed from the archive very recently because it was uninstallable (no 4.4 port ). Probably apt-file needs to update it's package data?

Changed in xfce4-datetime-plugin:

The same goes for xfce4-notes-plugin.

apt-file can file this:

xfce4-notes-plugin: usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/libnotes.so

but apt-get can't find the package.

Is it worth raising a separate bug for this? I guess there will be many more similar issues.

I've run "sudo apt-file update", and run it regularly. The file it uses doesn't often get updated though, so I guess that's the problem.
