Hi Vince,

My apologies for the connection issues you've been experiencing and the inconvenience this has caused you. We've made some improvements to the server side of the service and I think you were affected by an outage yesterday. Can you try to connect again and let me know if you are still having problems? If you are, can you also attach your ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/oauth-login.log file to this bug report?

Thank you,

Joshua

Joshua,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I'm still having the same problem today. I have tried restarting my computer and the client but neither seems to work.

I'm attaching my oauth-login.log as requested, but it seems a sycdaemon-exceptions.log file was also generated today. I'm not sure if that is useful or relevant, but I'm attaching it as well (it contains some error messages that were generated when I tried to connect today).

I also just realized that the ubuntu one sync daemon asks me for a password to unlock the default keyring every time I boot up. Is this normal?

Reformatted again today. Now the problem is gone. It asked me to log in and it has synced fine ever since. I don't know what I could have done differently that made it not work on two successive installs and then work on a third. Perhaps something was updated on the server side?

Hi Vince,

I think it was likely it was a server side issue at the time. If you are prompted for your keyring password every time, then it's likely you either have auto-login enabled or your keyring password is different than your (Ubuntu) login password.

Thank you,

Joshua

I tried to upload a file 9 megabytes. Firefox stopped the upload saying 'time out'. I tried several times. Could not upload.
After that I am unable to connect to Ubuntu One. Before trying to upload everything was fine.

Yesterday I registered my laptop on my ubuntu one account (9.10 32bit) and today i just can't get my desktop registered (9.10 64bit). Bottom line is I can't register my machine on the account hence the sync is not working.

Verify that you are running the latest version of the client software and see if the problems still exist. It's currently 1.0.2-0ubuntu2. Run Update Manager to get the latest version and restart the client software (or log-out/in).

Ok, I checked my version just now and it is the one you specified, plus I
had an update about 3 hours ago. It still doesn't work.
The problem is the client will not connect to my account for some reason.
Icon has an ! mark on it.
I can however log on to my account via a browser without a hitch. So I
guess the problem is the client.
I am puzzled by the fact that I have no control over my sign in details
that the client uses to log on and by the fact that I can't register any
of my computers to my account (does this registration only work when
running the client for the first time?). I have a suspicion that these two
problems are linked.
I hope this feedback helps.

Thank you

kremenal - When you are adding your computer to sync with Ubuntu One, you sign in to the service using the web browser. The web browser then works with the client software to set a unique token on your machine. This is how we know how to connect your unique machine(s) to your personal cloud space. Removing that token (using Accessories >> Passwords and Encryption Keys on your computer or through /account/machines/ on the website) will disable sync and should force the client software to restart the Add A Computer process to reset the token... so the client software will go through this process when it is first run (b/c it can't find the token) and generally whenever the token does not exist.

Hi kremenal,

Based on the syncdaemon-exceptions.log file, I think you're affected by a known bug. The good news is that we have a workaround for this problem and a fix coming soon! To workaround this problem, please delete the following configuration file: ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf Once you've done that, please quit Ubuntu One and start again. For now, please don't change the bandwidth usage preferences in the client.

Thank you,

Joshua

Ok, I removed the syncdaemon.conf file as instructed and now the client
crashes on restart, I've sent a bug report on this here

Hello Matt,

First of all Thank You, your reply was helpful. I solved the problem, sort
of, here is how:

I know managed to register my laptop when I had first run the ubunutu one
client after
a fresh 9.10 install. And i guess this is because the default we browser
was firefox.
On my desktop i managed to change that to opera, which is the browser i
prefer to use,
so when i first run ubuntu one the login was launched in opera and that is
why i couldn't get
a token (this is my guess) for my machine and therefore I wasn't able to
register my desktop.

After that i deleted the laptop from my account. And then wasn't able to
register it again because
I had switched opera to default on it as well (the power of habit...)
So at this point i filed the bug.

Then I got your reply

I also got this reply.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 455544 ***

Hi kremenal,

Based on the syncdaemon-exceptions.log file, I think you're affected by
a known bug. The good news is that we have a workaround for this problem
and a fix coming soon! To workaround this problem, please delete the
following configuration file: ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf Once
you've done that, please quit Ubuntu One and start again. For now,
please don't change the bandwidth usage preferences in the client.

Thank you,

Joshua

So i did delete it and retried and than the client crashed so i reported
this bug:
bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntuone-client/+bug/477436

I didn't get to try solving it your way though so just now I deleted the
login info
for my ubuntu one client on my laptop(in Accessories >>> Passwords and
Encryption Keys),where there
were two entries for it, I deleted them both. I don't know if that is an
abnormality, i suspect so.
Also on my account there were no machines registered.

Then i changed firefox back to default and run ubuntu one and it works
just like it did when i first registered after installing.
The token is created and the machine got registered on the site.
All I have to do know is make sure it works and syncs.
I can't know however what is the consequence of me deleting the
syncdaemonc.conf
file.

Hope this is useful for bug tracking and everything

If I cant get things working i'll be back...

Thank you
