Bug Description

Binary package hint: dvd+rw-tools

DVD writes fail, and the DVD device light is flashing and the system keeps trying to access the drive over and over again.

I can't tell if this problem is the exact same one that is existing in your bugs list, but it appears slightly different.

k3b used to work when writing CD or DVD. Now I am not able to write DVD anymore. I have tested brasero and growisofs from a terminal--same thing happens.

everything is ok now, since i got the newest firmware for my cd/dvd-burner!

K3b and brasero run as a charm.
i think that the new dvd-media has a new sign, not human readable as they are like allways dvd-r 4,7gb 120min, 16x...

i hope this info helps everybody who is wondering about these 'undecided' bug-reports here.
The former firmware-version was Firmware : 1.04.

I'm seeing this problem on Ubuntu 10.04, clean install. It all used to work fine before, now K3B, nautilus-cd-burner, brasero, and even the commandline growisofs fail to burn ISO images for DVD+Rs (but somehow, it works with DVD+RWs...).
