Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-base

Upgraded kernel using synaptic on May 18th, think ver 2.6.15-23. After rebooting Dlink card did not appear in networking tools. Rebooted kernel 2.6.15-22 in grub card reappeared.

Possibly related, I lost a Marvell-based wireless card to this update. The card requires the ndiswrapper module (the native mrv8k driver is not there yet and should be disabled in this release) which does not work with 2.6.15-23. It errs out with a page allocation failure ('pccardd: page allocation failure. order:6, mode:0xd0 every time. 2.6.15-22 does not have this problem, the card works just fine.

Another apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade later the card seems to work again. The problem was that the previous update held back the linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-23-686 package while it did update the kernel. The latest update/dist-upgrade fixed this and the network card works again (after manually disabling the native mrv8k driver)

Thanks for your report. knarf reported a similar situation was fixed with a kernel update. Did you see the same solution?
