Bug Description

Binary package hint: mail-notification

I'm using mail-notification (5.4.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1) under karmic with notify-osd (0.9.24-0ubuntu1), and I have a gmail account configured. If I choose to show test messages in the preferences dialog they will be shown nicely as passive dialogs like they should. But if I receive a real email mail-notification will show a regular active dialog, with three buttons (OK, Cancel and Open) in the middle of the screen, interrupting whatever I was doing at the time. This is a really strange, and inconsistent, behavior.

This seems to be a new behaviour since the last update. I saw this dialog for the first time today.

I beg to differ. I have seen this behaviour before, but it has not been visible for a great deal of time, since notify-osd have been crashing whenever that dialog was to pop up. Since the latest bug fix in notify-osd this behaviour is visible again.

Ugly workaround:
In a terminal, type:
gconftool --set "/apps/mail-notification/popups/actions" --type list --list-type string []

This will remove any action button that generates a passive dialog.

With two mail accounts configured - one gmail and one IMAP - only the gmail causes this problem. Should this not therefore be a simple fix?
