Bug Description
After the update from 8.10 to 9.04 everything was running fine, no problems apart from an annoying but not critical issue with terminal (could not fork pty). However, when the last kernel upgrade was done, everything became slow (long boot time and hanging). Also, the arrows and delete stopped working, with no good reason. As 9.10 is coming I decided to do a clean re-install from the last down-loadable live CD (October 15) and installed from scratch. So far so good, all keys working and no visible issues except that closing the lid did not activate suspend. Over the weekend though, I used suspend from the button on the panel a few times and after that, the mentioned buttons stopped working. It must be kernel related, as it only started after the last upgrade.
Hardware = Compaq 6720s, US - RU keyboard.
in addition to the standard package Seamonkey (WYSIWYG), skype 2.0, thunderbird and OOO3.1.1 are installed.

Hi Martin,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 456046
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
