Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

Ipod does not show up on Banshee

Rhythmbox recognizes the Ipod, it sees the songs and I can play them in rhythmbox, but when I eject the Ipod, the Ipod reports that it is empty, 0 songs.

I uninstalled rhytmbox to see if there was a conflict. Still banshee does not recognize Ipod.

The Ipod worked in Jaunty.

The Ipod icon does not show up on the desktop, only as a document. When I click it opens as a mounted hard drive.

Probably a duplicate of Bug #382941. Could you check, please?

Yes, I guess so. I wasn't sure what Podsleuth was. But the rhythmbox player had also problems, and on the desktop the Ipod is not recognized as an Ipod. So the problem is perhaps more global?

Nah, Podsleuth is just the thing that Banshee uses to detect iPods, and it uses
HAL. But HAL is deprecated, and things are moving over to DeviceKit-Disks.
Podsleuth just hasn't been modified to use DeviceKit-Disks instead.
