Bug Description

Since my update to Kubuntu karmic beta, my Dell D630 laptop has not been able to suspend or hibernate. When I try to suspend to RAM, the system freezes, does not respond to SysRq, and needs a hard reboot. It does seem to lock the screen, but never actually suspends.
I have this problem with versions 2.6.31-11 and 2.6.31-14. I have never had this problem in Jaunty (2.6.28-15 and older) or Intrepid.
Hibernation (to disk) also fails and the screen goes blank, but the system still appears to be responsive to SysRqs. This bug is also new in 2.6.31-*.

Marking as non-duplicate of bug #417842 as symptoms are clearly different.

A clean install of karmic on my machine solved the problem, both suspend and hibernate work now.
