Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-do

Do is not correctly indexing application desktop files.

For example, the Applications entry for Epiphany is “Epiphany Web Browser”, however when typing “web” into Do, the launcher entry for Epiphany does not appear. Instead, one must type “Epiphany” to be able to launch it.

This is annoying since the text in the menu is not reflected by what you can type, and forces you to think about what specific application you want to open, rather than what task you want to complete.

Uh... you do realize there are possibly more than 1 results when you type 'web' and you probably have to tell Do which one to use until it learns it, right?

I type 'web' and my default is 'Search Web' but if i hit the down arrow i get firefox, then epiphany, then some others.

Of course.

I have a long list of hits for “web” and while when running jaunty, Ephy was the first hit, since upgrading to Karmic it no longer appears in the list.
