Bug Description

Kubuntu live CD version 20060518.

After installing system using Ubiquity and choosing other language for installation (Polish), KDM upon system start appears in English. It should appear in language selected during installation.

I am not sure if this is Ubiquity problem (as locale is set properly and after login KDE appears in Polish) or KDM problem (not respecting default locale).

I had the same problem with text mode install, so it seems not to be a problem of ubiquity alone. The bug is, that the installer does not set the key "Language" in the section [X-*-Greeter] in the file /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc to the choosen installation language.

Jonathan, I don't like the idea of the installer having to muck around with random files this way. Could kdm not fetch the language using pam_getenv, the same way gdm now does? That would be cleaner and would not require installer modifications.
