I enabled "compact mode" in nautilus preferences, it works for all folders, except /home/rom.

Thank you for your bug report, not confirming the issue there, how do you change the view setting?

I can confirm this behaviour in nautilus 2.28.1-0ubuntu1. The view setting was changed by going to Edit->Preferences in a nautilus window and in the Views tab selecting "Use compact layout".

I am seeing this bug, too. Home folder does not respond to compact layout or icon resizing via menu. Resizing by Ctrl-scroll wheel works in all windows. However, sub-folders seem to be behaving correctly via menu setting (compact view and icon size). Setting changed in nautilus as above. Using a system upgraded to 9.10

The behaviour is very inconsistent, for some folders, whatever the compact mode is enabled or not, they are in compact mode. For some other, whatever it is enabled or not, they are in normal mode…

The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

I don't know how to remove this specific settings (and where it is stored), to make it use the default.
