While adding printer, samba printers don't show in smb browser

I try to add a printer in the following way:

- Open printer configuration
- Select 'New printer' from dropdown box
- Select 'Windows printer via Samba'
- Hit button 'Browse'

The server(s) on which the printers reside do show up, but when trying to expand the tree view to show the attached printer(s), nothing shows up.

Workaround is to manually give the complete URL, in my case, something like 'MSHOME/LIN01/hp-photosmart'; then the printer connects and is working as expected.

This was working OK in Jaunty, so it can be considered as a regression bug.

i hav the same problem, i use a laptop gateway mx6946m with karmic koala i386, and the printer is hosted in a hp pc with windos vista i386 too

I am having this problem with 9.10 64-bit. The printers are HP2200D laserjet and HP1610 PSC inkjet. I can't see the XP box (XPS), but I could before messing and gomming with XP's sharing permissions, I probably broke something. I can see the Win2K box. I have Netbios installed on the XP box so that the Win2K can see it over a wireless link.

This is a new configuration as prior to installing Karmic I did not have the XPS box set up as the print server for the network until the week before Karmic released and I didn't bother trying to setup printing on Jaunty.

Might be a duplicate of samba bug 449735. Could you test the samba in karmic-proposed (3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1) to see if that would get fixed there ?

yes ist related and it fix the problem in my case, yous rename de printer to somethig less that 12 characters and its solved

I confirm this is working (again) with samba 3.4.0.
This bug might be considered solved (fixed released).
