Graphical Glitches and OpenGL apps Hard Freeze Radeon driver

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeon

Ububtu Jaunty and Karmic 64Bit. Radeon 9500 and Radeon 9800SE. Major graphical glitches mostly on fonts on desktop and applications. OpenGL apps eg Armagetron freeze whole system only a hard power off/on recovers. Tested with OpenSUSE 11.1 LiveCD and that works great with no problems on the same hardware. The xorg.conf "Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"" Seems to fix the text and graphical artifacts but OpenGL apps hard lock still. Attached is a screen shot of the artifacts/glitches on the 9800SE card.

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Xorg.0.log - While glitches are showing.

Xorg.0.log - After hard lock (cause be running armagetron and starting a new game) and reboot into recovery mode to cp the log.

Looks like a regression on the graphical glitches side of this bug as 8.04 x64 does not have glitches/artifacts in the GUI, however 8.04 does lock hard starting a new game in Armagetron. I will see if I can download 8.10 x64 to see if the bug is present there.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Hard freeze in any OpenGL application. Easy to reproduce with glxgears or a OpenGL screensaver.
Ubuntu 9.04 and before where not affected. Upgraded from 9.04
