Bug Description

After choosing "Hibernate" from the menu in the top right of the screen the laptop appears to hibernate successfully but when trying to resume there is no on screen error (that I see) but the laptop restarts as if it is from a cold boot. On logging in I get the notification that an error occurred.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous hibernate and prevented it from resuming properly.

Hi Gareth,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 453549

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, as requested I am now running Beta 2 of Lucid and the issue appears to have changed - hibernate is no longer an option and I cannot see how to re-enable hibernate from the power menu. Until I can re-enable this option I cannot test if this is still an issue. How do I enable hibernate support?

I also tried to run 2.6.34 however the system did not boot correctly so have reverted back to the default 2.6.32 kernel.

Any further questions please let me know know.

Regards,

Gareth.
